This fine porcelain piece commemorates the critical contributions of Chabad, one of the most significant Jewish religious, social, cultural and humanitarian organizations in the world.
It features colorful images of Orthodox Jews joyously working together to support their faith, Israel and the world, surrounded by a ring of patterned fishes,symbolizing rebirth and luck. Beneath them, Moses presents the Tablets. This beautiful imagery is all encircled in gold.
It was designed by Raphael Abecassis, a well-known artist who has been internationally recognized. Abecassis’ honors include the Israeli Award for Independence Day Poster 1987, the Ministry of Education award for "Psalms of David" illuminated manuscripts (1987) and Illuminated text for President Chaim Herzog's 40th year Independence Day presentation at the Wailing Wall. His Chagall-esque style is part of long tradition in Judaic art.
I see no condition issues. Design is bright and clear. Gilt edging is intact. There are no chips, cracks or crazing. The Plate is 10.5” in diameter. This is a beautiful piece of Judaica, laden with meaning.
